'Smoking a joint'= smoking for 'escape'...the 'smoke' is a 'silent companion of ur thoughts'....shares them, makes no judgement, divests u of some of ur stress, comforts u in ur 'powerlessness'...do u feel @ 'lose ends'/ kinda powerless regarding some specific issue...perhaps in need or want of some sorta 'break'/ 'temp escape'?

I guess that makes sense, been kinda trying to have the "moving out" talk with my mom, but she's against it so... made zero progress there

'mom' can represent both your personal mom AND the archetypal Great Mother in the human psyche. The great mother stands, on one level, for the the containing womb of society, which wants to keep you (unconsciously) in its 'comfortably known' confines, for the basic purpose of procreating and keeping things goin on samesame.....

@ The Prof: by understandin why ur mum is reactin the way she is, u "might" have a better chance @ 'gettin somewhere' in terms of communication n outcome...think ur mum might be reactin to plain old FEAR- of the rational n irrational variety...fear for u, n fear for her(self)... kind o a delicate matter to address...

For u: fear that 'freedom has to be earned'..that 'u'll go astray'..'end up in a bad way' ..will not be 'loved n cared for the way u deserve'..n for her: fear of 'losin u'...'fear of change'/ of havin to find a 'new purpose n reason for bein n livin'...fear that sthg out there will reach out to jeopardize her 'hard love/sacrifice'

... y'r never going to 'get her permission' to 'cut the second umbilical cord'. o'course she's afraid of lettin you go. you will help her best by cutting loose and letting her see that you are mature, responsible, etc. But, the dream shows her as >not< freaking out, which his why its more about >your< fear of growing up /out

y need to help the real mom become the dream mom so you can become the one who is centered in yourself instead of in her for yr values/freedom. If she would resist your selfdetermination because you >might< become a dissolute pot smoker, you need to not buy into her anxiety ... cuz it can become 'emotional blackmail' vs. yr freedm

bingo 84....ultimately tis more about 'U givin urself the permission'...CHOICE...1 of life's greatest dilemmas...the burden/responsibility of knowing 1 is 'free' in 1's choices, relatively spkg n u to a certain extent...tis easier to believe we don't have a choice, that it's been 'taken away'...but we always do...we do...we do...

....but then the question arises..'Are we ready for...n do we want to?'.....m guess is U would hold the answer....

1 mo thng: "having an interview" = having an appointment with adult responsibility. smokin joint = don' wanna grow up/ wanna still have mom makin decisions, disapproving of /regulating 'potsmokin'. two real impulses req'in 'choice'/will. course, you can smoke pot -&- grow up responsibly, when yr making yr own immdiate choices
